The ASA network for pre-retired and retired sociologists was launched following action by the ASA Council in March 2014. ASA retired members and anyone interested in the experiences and challenges of retirement are invited to participate in this new network and to help shape its future development.
Explore the side menu tabs on these pages to learn about the nature, activities, resources, plans, and history of ASA-ORN and how this network may be helpful to retired colleagues and those contemplating retirement.
Ongoing Features: The ASA Retirement Network (ASARN) maintains a list of retirement resource links and opt-in listserv, produces a semi-annual electronic newsletter, and will have regular features on retirement issues in editions of Footnotes. (See the right menu for details.)
Annual ASA Meeting Program Participation: As part of each Annual Meeting program, the ASA Retirement Network holds a regular paper session, a retirement planning workshop, and an annual "A Life in Sociology" distinguished lecture.
